LEMON JELLY ON TOUR
28th of FEBRUARY 2003
We seem to be giging more than ever this year as there's lots of top bands on tour at the moment, they wont all be featured here but I felt this one warrented some effort on my part.
I have to say that this was one of the best and certainly the most friendly, party like experiences I have had to date...
We arrived at the end of a miserable rainy friday to a busy but not over crowded Manchester Academy - thats no2 out of three different Manchester Academies (what thats about I dunno) this venue I prefer to the main academy, for those that dont know its part of the university and has a lot more character than the main Academy... We saw zero 7 play here last year and I saw Erland Oye play one floor above last week! There's lots of bars, which means you get served quicker too :P
Anyway as we entered the gig we were all handed yellow lucky bags with postcards, badges, baloons and a scribble pencil all branded to glorious lemon jelly effect. We also got given bingo tickets for the warm up (quality) and tickets for an aftershow party that Fred was DJing at...now thats what I call treating your fans right :) still a glow in the dark lost horizons tshirt would have been even better but hey it made me feel less bitter about not getting one (I'm never gonna let that one lie - such a great idea but probably done at a loss so I guess its fair enough)
There's not a lot more to tell apart from the fact that the music was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, there were red ballons bobbing up and down above our heads, sweets being thrown to the masses, gorgeous projections of the airside artwork and instruments being played live by both of the boys. Not to make Nick feel put out in any way as he's just as much of a top geezar but not only does Fred produce incredible artwork via the design outfit airside but he's a dj, and plays numerous instruments to boot - kinda sickning really :}
A fannytastic time had by all...
Cant wait till the next time I see em live
Enjoy the photos...
